‘The Tide Fire Incident, A Great Loss’
The Chief Daminabo Ogolo War Canoe House of Opobo Kingdom in
Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Council, has described the recent inferno that
rocked the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation as a great loss to the people of
the state and the government.
Senibo Loveday R.D. Ogolo, stated this when he led a
delegation of the group on a solidarity visit to the corporation’s General
Manager, Mr. Celestine Ogolo last Wednesday.
Senibo Ogolo, said the inferno came at a time The Tide was
adjusting to offer its best to the public, but expressed the hope that the
incident would not deter the management of the Corporation from achieving its
set goals.
According to him, The Tide newspaper had become so strong that
no kind of unpleasant situation can weigh it down.
However, he expressed joy that no life was lost during the
incident and prayed God to lead the GM to a greater height.
Earlier, the general manager of the corporation, Mr
Celestine had told Ogolo his kinsmen that
the incident left no pin in his
office and others.
He noted that the government has indicated interest to
renovate the affected part of the building, adding that he would do his best to
keep the ship afloat.
Mr Ogolo thanked the team for their concern and prayed God
to see them through at the point of their needs.
It would be recalled that the office of the GM and others on
the first floor of The Tide building were razed on Friday, July 20, 2012.
