Teachers and students of Immanuel International School, Abuloma in Port Harcourt, have appealed to the Rivers  State Government and other organisations to come to the aid of the school as the only access road leading to the school has been covered by flood.

The Principal of the school,  Pastor (Mrs) G.O. Kalango, made the appeal in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.

Mrs Kalango said that the school does not have access road, lamenting that  all the roads leading  to the school are so bad.

She said the school had single-handedly repaired the road several times, noting that money that could have been used for other needs are being used to repair the road just to make it possible for the students, staff and parents to get access to  the school.

She also appealed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to put the road in good order.

“The road is bad at the moment and it is cutting the school completely off from every other part of Port Harcourt,” she said.

The principal  further appealed to the state government to consider urgent remedial work on the road adding that the school has represented the state and won academic competitions both nationally and internationally and so contributes to human capital development.

According to her, there is also need for proper drainage in the area as part of the creek overflow into the  school area thereby causing flooding.
