Georgeford Nwosu, Man of Peace – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has described the late former legislator representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Georgeford Nwosu, as a man who made sacrifices for the sustenance of peace in his community, state and nation.
Governor Amaechi stated this last Saturday during a funeral service in honour of Hon. Nwosu at Umuajuloke in Omuma Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, Governor Amaechi lauded the qualities of the late legislator, describing his death as “a painful, sudden and very unbearable one,” noting that “he was always reaching out, always making sacrifices for peace and to assist the less privileged in the society.”
He condoled with the family, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, urging his offsprings to take solace in the fact that their father was “a great man,” adding that they should bear in mind that “if we die we die in the Lord and if we live we live for the Lord.”
Speaking, the member, representing Emohua/Ikerre Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Andrew Uchendu, said the deceased was “a dependable political associate, gentle and a party loyalist,” adding that he would be missed by all and sundry, especially his good humour and truthfulness.
In his tribute, the Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Mr. John Anucha described the deceased as “a man of peace, integrity, and a grassroots mobilizer,” who contributed immensely to the development of Omuma in particular, the state and Nigeria at large, advising the members of the family to take solace in God.
In his sermon, the Area Superintendent of the Apostolic Church Maritime Field, Biara, Apostle John Kpee, stressed the need for man to live a life dedicated to God and devoid of worldly sentiments, urging all to remember that “we shall all appear before the judgment seat of God.”
