… Begin Training For Edo Governorship Poll
The Edo State police comamnd, has said that it had commenced training of its men and strategies to prevent loss of life and property ahead, during and after the July 14, Edo Governorship poll.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 5, Mr Argungu Hashimu, disclosed this to journalists in Benin.
He warned the people he said were planning to breach peace before, during and after the election to think twice, stressing that appropriate sanction awaited them.
Hashimu said: “we have approval to deal with any criminal and whoever is going against the laid down law”.
“Apart from the zone, police are coming from neigbouring states, different stations and units to beef up the manpower to give security to the residents of Edo.”
The AIG, however, did not disclose the number of security officers who would be available during the election.
According to him, doing so will amount to exposing “the number of our officers. It is part of our strategy, we are still mobilizing officers”.
