‘Analyst Wants Review Of NYSC Postings’
Following the insecurity in some parts of the country, a Public Opinion Analyst, Elder Jide Fashakin, has called on the Federal Government to allow National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members to serve in their various states for now.
Elder Fashakin, who barred his mind while reacting to the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State in a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt last Wednesday said no parent would be happy for his child to be killed or harmed in an effort to serve the nation, while money spent on such child goes in vain.
He said until the security situations improve in the North, no corp member should be sent to that part of the country, stressing that a situation where the Northerners cannot protect people from other parts of the country is condemnable and unfortunate.
The Elder statesman also said the protection given to the Northerners here should be extended to other people including students in the North, because the rate of secterial killings of innocent citizens in the North is alarming and causing great concern to the good people of this country.
“Right now, there is no week without any security threat or killing and if it is not nib in the bud, it may generate into something else,” he voxed, and appealed to all Nigerians to rally round president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to solve the ugly trend in the country.
He said the killing of a serving senator in the country recently was sad and no one knew who the next victim would be, and reiterated that all hands must be on deck to fight this cancaworm.
Fashakin said with this insecurity, no investor would come to Nigeria and our young graduates would suffer in future, saying fanatics should allow the citizens to carry out their religion activity without molestation, as we all belong to “one Nigeria”.
“Lets build a better foundation for our children and let corp members remained in their states for now”, he noted.
He, however, condemned the sacking of some security chiefs, stressing that it is not a wise decision for now, as they are also doing their best.
