Ministry Registers 12,408 Unemployed Youths
About 12,408 unemployed indigenes of Rivers
State comprising graduates and non
graduates have registered with the state on-line unemployment data base.
The database www.riverfee.com was
instituted by the State government through the
Ministry of Employment Generation and Empowerment to ascertain the
number of unemployed youths in the state and their areas of specialisation.
The commissioner in the Ministry, Mr
Ipalibo Harry who disclosed this while declaring open a 3-day workshop
organised by the Ministry in collaboration with the Administrative Staff
College of Nigeria (ASCON) for administrative staff of the Ministry in Port
Harcourt, said the workshop had become
imperative to properly equip the staff in the handling of documents and records
to achieve the goals and objectives of the ministry in job creation and
employment.
The commissioner who was represented by the
permanent secretary, Mr Samuel T. LongJohn noted that the workshop tagged: “Administrative Principles, Processes
and Practice” would enable participants imbibe the principles and processes of
management of government business for effective results; and enjoined them to
take the training seriously inorder to get the best expected of them.
Speaking, the Zonal Coordinator, South
South, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) Mr Whetode Mike, said
the programme was package to expose the participants to the intricacies
involved in financial record management, management of official documents as
well as understanding of public service rules, ethics and code of the civil
service.
