Institute Urges Digitalisation Of Govt Media
The Rivers State branch of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) has called for the digitalisation of the state-owned media houses in the state.
The state chairman of the Institute, Dr Amina G H. Fiberesima who made the call during a courtesy call on the General Manger of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Tuesday in Port Harcourt, also stressed the need for improved welfare packages for staff of the corporation with a view to motivating them to greater productivity.
Dr Fiberesima said that the institute was delighted with the quality of The Tide Newspaper as well as its circulation and enjoined the management to ensure that the gains recorded so far were sustained.
He also expressed the preparedness of the institute to partner with the RSNC management in the training and retraining of its staff, noting that the visit was part of the activities lined-up to celebrate the 2012 Management Day of the institute.
According to him, the Management day which has as its theme: “National Development And Mismanagement: Forces at Opposite Poles, would provide opportunity for participants to x-ray the various challenges of national development.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo said that both the NIM and RSNC share the same goals of ensuring excellence and discipline at workplaces.
Mr Ogolo, represented by RSNC’s Director of Administration, Mr Alfred Nwogu also said the management had provided opportunities for staff to improve themselves both academically and otherwise, while it has not relented on training and retraining of staff.
He thanked the institute for its desire to partner with the corporation in the training and retraining of its staff.
