Commissioner Warns Revenue Agents
Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Mr Chuma Chinye, has warned revenue agents to stop collection of business premises registration and renewal for 2012.
The Commissioner gave the warning in Port Harcourt during a meeting with former revenue contractors of the Ministry.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Sir Awoye Bob Manuel, the Commissioner appealed to all agents to return all receipts and demand notices in their possession to the Ministry.
He urged all companies and business owners in the state, not to engage or patronise any agent for the payment of business registration and renewal.
According to him, government would soon come up with the mode for business premises registration and renewal.
In another development the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Chuma Chinye has urged the Eleme Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture to be proactive in order to create wealth and employment.
Mr Chuma Chinye gave the charge recently when executive members of the Chamber paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He noted that Eleme local government is richly endowed with wide range of solid and natural resources, which if properly managed would improve the economic base of their organisation.
The Commissioner urged the Chamber to take advantage of the numerous companies in the area to quicken industrial development and not to depend only on trade fairs and exhibitions.
Mr Chinye stressed the importance of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the economy, adding that “SMEs, would create a sustainable pathway for the rapid transformation of our economy”.
Earlier, the President of Eleme Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Chief M. Ollorwi said the Chamber would always partner with the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry for the growth of business in the state.
