Rivers Corps Members Bag Presidential Award
Two Rivers State indigenes were among the 52 NYSC members that won President Goodluck Jonathan’s award for outstanding performance and contributions during their service year.
They are Miss Ihedike Christabel Ekeoma from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area and Mr. Uranta Kingsley Godwin from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area.
Speaking shortly after presenting themselves to the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari in Port Harcourt, recently they expressed appreciation to government for all its support to students of Rivers State in tertiary institutions.
According to them, with the President’s award, the federal Government had given them automatic employment/scholarship to study anywhere in the world up to Ph.D level.
To emerge as one of the overall best NYSC members in the country, Miss Ekeoma who read Medical Physiology in UNIPORT won other awards in Kwara State where she served including State award while Mr. Uranta who read Chemical Engineering and served in Anambra State also won several awards.
They advised all NYSC members to remain focused and articulate positive strategies aimed at contributing to better the lot of the people.
