RSHA Okays Suspension of 11 LGs Chairmen …Clears Two Commissioner Nominees
The Rivers State House of Assembly last Monday endorsed the suspension of 11 local government chairmen in Rivers State by the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree who presided over the session ruled in favour of the suspension after members of the Assembly unanimously voted in support of the suspension of the local government chairmen.
The decision of the Assembly followed a notification letter of the suspension of the local government chairmen brought to the House by the Governor and read by the clerk of the Assembly, Sir Emmanuel Ogele.
The Local Government chairmen suspended include; Chimbiko Akarolo, Port Harcourt City, Theodore Georgewill, Akuku Toru,Ojikaye Flag Amachree Asari Toru, Orom Nte, Andoni, Barr. Miller Awori, Ahoada West , Cassidy Ikegbidi Ahoada East, Allen Mma, Emohua, Raymond Wokocha Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni.
Others include, Bar.Tamuno Williams Okrika, Welendu Amadi, Ikwerre, and Maclean Uranta, Opobo/Nkoro. It could be recalled that following the suspension of the affected local government chairmen, the vice Chairmen of the various LGAs, had been sworn in by the Governor to act as chairmen.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State House of Assembly also cleared two commissioner nominees sent to it for consideration for appointment into the Rivers State Executive Council.
Those cleared, include a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwogu from Omuma Local Government Area, and Samuel Eyiba from Ahoada West local Government Area.
The House also committed the 2012 appropriation bill to committee stage while it adjourned since die, following a motion of the leader of the Assembly, Hon. Chidi Iloyd.
