RSG Cautions Ikoku Mechanics Against Road Blockade
Mechanics operating at the Ikoku spare parts market have been warned against the unwholesome practice of carrying out repair works by the roadside, while all trading activities must also be restricted to the market.
The State Commissioner for Urban Development and Physical Planning, Dr. Tammy Danagogo handed down the warning at a joint meeting with the spare -part dealers and officials of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority.
The Commissioner further warned that henceforth, any vehicle parked on the road or the side-walks would be confiscated and appropriate punishment meted out to owners in accordance with the state traffic laws.
He disclosed that government would soon commence the construction of stalls at the new site for the spare part dealers at Iriebe.
The move, according to him, was part of efforts to relocate the market from its present location in Diobu without further delay.
