Kano To Offset Bills Of Subsidy Protest Victims
The Kano State Government has promised to offset the medical bills of the victims of Monday’s protest against the removal of fuel subsidy in the Kano metropolis.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran, made the promise on Wednesday when he visited the victims at the two hospitals where they were receiving treatment.
He said the state government found it necessary to assist the victims in order to alleviate their sufferings.
Labaran noted with delight that the victims were receiving adequate attention in the hospitals and prayed for their speedy recovery.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victims, who sustained varying degrees of injury during the protest, are on admission at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital and the Nasarawa General Hospital, both in the metropolis.
The commissioner was conducted round by the Chief Medical Directors of the hospitals, Dr Tanko Sani and Dr Mohammed Shehu, respectively.
