RSG Distributes Relief Materials To Flood Victims
The Rivers State Government, has distributed relief materials worth millions of Naira to fifty residents of Abuja Waterfront Port Harcourt whose properties were destroyed during the recent flood disaster in the area.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties, Chief Tony Wokekoro who presented the materials to the victims said that the gesture was part of government’s effort to bring succour to the people.
The Permanent Secretary who spoke through the Director of Emergency and Disaster Management in the Ministry, Mrs Soe Alaibi-Nwokocha also commended the Federal government for its quick intervention on the matter and stressed the need for improvement in relief materials sent to the state.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief Atawa Douglas Georgewill thanked the government for the gesture and said there was need for a more lasting solution to their plight.
The items distributed include bundles of roofing sheets, bags of nail, bags of rice, wax wrappers, detergents, blankets, cartons of toilet soap, plastic spoons and plates.
