Amaechi Tasks Practitioners On Quality Programmes
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has charged media organisations to create unique identities through quality and people-oriented programmes in order to satisfy their customers and stay on top of the market.
Government Amaechi gave this charge on Thursday while commissioning a new radio station, Radio Port Harcourt 91.7FM, located along Force Avenue in Port Harcourt.
Representing by his Deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor urged them to consistently innovate and churn out more interesting programmes that would positively impact the lives of the people, thanking them for affording the citizenry options in the media industry, while calling on the people of the State to “listen to this station for one month and make a choice on which is the best station.”
He commended South Atlantic Media, owners of the station for the well-thought out decision to invest in the State by establishing the new station in Port Harcourt, urging staff of the new station to “put in their best to make it the best in town,” charged them to justify their engagement by the organization through hard work and dedicated service.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Information, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, called on the management of the station to ensure socially responsible journalism by insisting on the highest ethical standards from its staff, urging them to “go for great programming that would satisfy their clientele and stay on top of the competition in the industry, and congratulated them for the achievement.
In his speech, Chairman of South Atlantic Media, Mr Dappa Ado, said Radio Port Harcourt is “the vitality that the media industry needs,” adding that it is here to “hold the dream of a greater and more purpose-driven radio station,” announcing that “the station assembles in a magnetic space all the modern day technological facilities that make broadcasting a profession of great delight”.
