Actors Plans Two-Million-Man March
The Rivers State Council of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has planned a two-million man march to create awareness on the activities of the guild in the state.
The state chairman of the guild, Mr. Monima Harry who said this at a news briefing in Port Harcourt said that the proposed two million man march is also aimed at soliciting the support of government, corporate bodies and individuals to the organisation.
He described the Guild as one of the highest employers of labour in the state, adding that Actors and Actresses have been acknowledged worldwide as instruments of change in the society.
According to him, this unique position of the Guild in the society has underscored the need for government and corporate bodies to recognise it, pointing out that more than five thousand youths have already registered with the organisation.
Also speaking, the National Vice Chairman South-South AGN, Mr. Ovunda Ihunwo said that the film industry has given Nigeria a global facelift but regretted that despite this, the government has not given proper recognition to the industry. On her part, Ambassador Milicent Jack who spoke on marketing and costumes said that members of the AGN in Rivers State were willing to partner with the Rivers State Government in the areas of marketing and dressing during the forth-coming CARNIRIV.
For Columbus Irosoanga government needs to initiate programmes on talent hunts in the state.
