Surveillance Helicopters: FG To Offset 50% Bill –Semenitari
The Rivers State Government says, it is in partnership with the Federal Government for the purchase of the two proposed helicopters for security surveillance in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari disclosed this, Wednesday, during The Tide Roundtable, a weekly personality interview programme of the Editorial Board of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) in Port Harcourt.
Mrs Semenitari explained that the state government is contributing 50 per cent of the proposed sum, while the remaining 50 per cent will be contributed by the Federal Government.
According to her, the two helicopters are purely for security surveillance, stressing that the facilities will be managed by the security agencies for the overall security of the state.
The commissioner also said that close-circuit television cameras have been installed by the government at strategic locations across the state and debunked insinuations that the facilities were non-existed..
Mrs Semenitari, also stressed the need for prospective land developers at the Greater Port Harcourt area to always double check before buying land in the area, as it is only the government that holds the title over any land in the area.
She advised land owners to always regualise their land title to avoid counter and conflicting claims to same title by others
Semenaritari announced that the state’s committee on tax harmonization will soon publish a comprehensive list of payable taxes in the state saying as soon as that was done, Rivers people would know what taxes to pay to whom and what not to pay.
