Perm Sec Urges Compulsory Refresher Courses For Civil Servants
The outgoing Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Land and Survey, Pastor Christopher Briggs, has advocated for compulsory refresher courses for all categories of civil servants in the state.
Pastor Briggs who made the call at a send forth ceremony organised in his honour by the Rivers State Civil Servants Christian Fellowship in Port Harcourt said that regular retraining would enable civil servants to be equipped for the challenges of implementing government policies and programmes.
The out-going permanent secretary further stressed the need for improved condition of services for civil servants while demanding for special allowances for those engaged on special duties for the overall improvement of the service.
He thanked members of the fellowship for the honour done him and urged them to remain committed to the ideals of the fellowship.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Barrister Rufus Godwins described the out-going permanent secretary as a loyal and committed civil servant whose wealth of experience has gone a long way in improving the civil service in the state.
Barrister Godwins explained that the ceremony was to thank God for the fruitful service to the state and humanity.
He also urged members of the fellowship to remain firm and be committed to the vision of the fellowship as well as improve upon it.
The new Coordinator of the fellowship, Evangelist (Mrs) Margaret U. Peterside said that Pastor Briggs has demonstrated that one could work and still win more souls for Christ.
