Rivers NUT Demands Consolidated Salary Implementation
The chairman of the Rivers State Wing of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) Chief Moses Adiela has appealed to the state government to implement the 70% per cent consolidated salary structure for teachers in the state.
Stating this in an interview with The Tide in his office yesterday, Chief Adiela said teachers are no longer comfortable with the delay in harmonising their salaries.
“I particularly, appeal to the committee set up by the government to handle the ratification and correction to conclude their work soon in order to put smiles on the face of Rivers teachers,” he said.
He used the opportunity to advocate for more teachers to be employed, saying it is very essential “for developing the state’s educational system.
“We lack core subject teachers in primary and secondary schools which is why we are urging the Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi not to renege on his promise to employ teachers this year.
Adiela, however, commended the Rivers State Governor for the projects he executed during his first tenure.
