CNPP Tasks Akpabio On Campaign Promises
The Chairman, Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) in Akwa Ibom, Linus Udofia, has urged Gov. Godswill Akpabio to fulfill his campaign promises.
Udofia told newsmen on Monday in Uyo that the first four years of Akpabio’s administration was used for infrastructural development while the second term should be devoted to industrialising the state.
“I want him to revive all the dead industries in Akwa Ibom like the ceramic firm, Sunshine Batteries and Eastern Match and Paper Mill Industry in Oku Iboku.
“By the time these industries are revived, they will create jobs for the teeming youths thereby reducing crime in the state,’’ Udofia said.
He also called on the governor to form an all embracing government that would ensure unity among the different ethnic groups in the state.
“I advocate for a cooperation of all the political parties, including those who have gone to the tribunal, that they should see the need to join hands with the elected governor.
“I strongly believe it is God that made man and can put a man in any position and therefore, they should eschew rancour and bigotry and join hands,’’ he said.
The CNPP chieftain also lamented the poor environmental state of Uyo metropolis where many drains remained blocked.
“Government should empower some of the unemployed youths and voluntary organisations to keep the state capital clean,’’ he said
Akpabio was sworn-in on Sunday for another four-year term in office.
