Police Kill Kidnappers, Rescue
The Rivers State Police Command has killed two out of the three kidnappers allegedly involved in last week’s abduction of Miss Jennifer Ike, a female youths corps members serving in Delta State.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Rita Inoma-Abbey named the killed kidnappers as Mr. Emeka Okpazra and Chukwuka Nwankpa all of Abia State.
According to Mrs Inoma Abbey, the gang on March 18, this year at about 8.15p.m along Intels Bus Stop in Port Harcourt posed as commercial taxi operators in a Toyota car and abducted the innocent female corps member.
She said the victim on sighting policemen at the Imo River gate raised alarm that made the hoodlums to jump out of the car and flee away, adding that the policemen at the check point in an attempt to arrest the fleeing suspects shots at them.
Dr. Inoma Abbey further stated that the two of the kidnappers were later confirmed dead at an undisclosed hospital where they were taken to as a result of the fatal injuries they sustained in an attempt to beat arrest by the police.
The state police image maker said the female corper was successfully rescued and taken home by the policemen, adding that the policemen also recovered the vehicle used by the hoodlums.
She stated that the State Police Command has been re-positioned to effectively protect lives and property in the state, stating that security was a collective responsibility of all citizens and to assist the police with useful information that would enable them to serve the society better.
