NURTW Pleads For Understanding Over Traffic Jams
Following the long queues experienced on the roads occasioned by road rehabilitation along Ikwerre road in Port Harcourt, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo motor park branch (Mile 3) has urged its members to bear with the state government as the project is geared towards easing flow of traffic when completed.
The change was given by the secretary of Nkpolu-Oroworukwo Motor park branch of NURTW, Cyril Amadi, during an interview with The Tide in his office in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to him, the only contribution expected of the masses especially the motorists and the road users is to exercise patience and support the state government’s massive road rehabilitation projects, which when completed would be of great benefit to the people of the state.
He noted that the road congestion currently experienced on Ikwerre Road is temporary and that people should learn to appreciate the good work of the state government, saying that the road when completed will not only ease the flow of traffic, it will also increase the economic and commercial activities within the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, as well as uplift the urban status of Port Harcourt to its past glory of garden city.
