Bukola Okunowo of Aero Marine (West Africa) Limited was joined by The Honourable Minister for Aviation, Fidelia A. Njeze and the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jubril Martins-Kuye, to turn the sod on the project.
The ceremony was also attended by Rudi Jagersbacher, President, Middle East and Africa, Hilton Worldwide and Deepak Seth, Vice President Development, Europe and Africa, Hilton Worldwide. Okunowo, Chairman of Aero Marine (West Africa) Ltd., said “We’re very excited to commence work on this project. When anyone checks into a Hilton hotel, they expect the very best in service and hospitality and it’s those world-class standards that we will be bringing to the Hilton Lagos Airport.”
The 250-room hotel is located on Murtala Muhammed Airport Road, within easy reach of the international airport. The hotel, which is expected to open in Q1 2013, will become the second hotel operated by Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Nigeria and will feature a pool, fitness and health spa, a fine dining restaurant, lobby bar and pool snack bar plus three large meeting rooms and a ballroom. “Today’s key milestone moves us closer to welcoming our first guests to the Hilton Lagos Airport. With its prime location and facilities the hotel will be a great addition to our presence in Nigeria.”
