RSCHST Develops Means Of Curbing Exams Malpractices
The Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology has developed means of checking the rate of examination malpractice in the school, which, according to the authorities, ensured a malpractice-free entrance examination for the 2010/2011 academic year in the school.
Provost of the college, Dr. Nnana Onyekwere made this known recently while briefing newsmen in a post entrance interview in the school.
Dr Onyekwere commended staff of the school for the efforts towards achieving the feat in spate of the fact that the examination took place in five centres.
He noted that the feat is very special, considering that examination malpractice is a common feature in most examinations in Nigeria.
According to him, the college has eight schools, stressing that the candidates who were successful at the entrance examination would be admitted into various programmes in the schools.
He explained further that the admission into the college is based on the recommendation of the professional body regulating the programme of the school saying that about two thousand eight hundred and twenty seven candidates wrote the entrance examination.
Of the 2,827 candidates that wrote the entrance examination only six hundred and ninety were successful; he stated.
Meanwhile, he charged eight members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who served in the college to be focused and enterprising.
Dr. Onyekwere gave this charge during the send-forth ceremony organised in their honour last Friday in Port Harcourt.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr. Pius Jeremiah, Onyekwere expressed satisfaction on the conduct and dedication of the corpers to their duties in the school.
Onyekwere, who expressed delight over the level of discipline exhibited by the Corpers during their service year, wished them God’s blessing and success in their future endeavours.
He stated that the corpers need to be enterprising in order to face the challenges of the larger society assuring them that they would create employment for themselves if they are focused.
