Okrika Council Boss, Others Express Satisfaction Over PDP Registration
The Okrika Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Tamunokuro Oba says the peaceful conduct of the ongoing PDP registration exercise in the area was a clear case of a people’s unflinching commitment to reciprocate the good gestures of the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi led administration to the people.
Hon. Oba who stated this when the State Commissioner for Health led other Party chieftains and top Government functionaries from the area to monitor the exercise, said that the impressive turn out of the people was a voluntary show of love and commitment for the Party and Governor Chibuike Amaechi as the leader of the Party at the State level.
The Okrika Council boss assured that as far as the people of Okrika are concerned, they are for the PDP and the present administration in the State, noting that “where else will the people go when they are getting their due under the Governor Amaechi led administration”.
Also speaking, a frontline PDP chieftain in the area, Hon. Alabere David expressed gratitude to the people for their turn out, saying that the PDP is one big family in Okrika devoid of any rancor.
Hon. David who said that under the government of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi the old idea of factions within the PDP in Okrika Local Government Area is no longer fashionable and therefore cannot be entertained since according to him “everybody is being carried along under the present administration”.
Similarly, the atmosphere of peaceful co-existence prevalent in Okrika Local Government Area as exemplified in the on going PDP revalidation and registration exercise has been described as a sign of better times for the people.
The General Manager of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, Ms. Medline Tador who stated this while speaking to newsmen shortly after monitoring the exercise in company of the State Commissioners of Health and Information among other PDP stalwarts in Okrika expressed satisfaction with the orderly conduct of the people.
Ms. Tador who herself registered in Okrika Ward 2 thanked her Ward Officers for mobilizing members of the Ward to participate actively in the exercise, saying that the people of Okrika Local Government Area have a lot of opportunities under the PDP administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi.
In the same vein, the Special Adviser to the Governor on NDDC Affairs and member of Okrika Ward 8, Hon. Godknows Tam-George has expressed gratitude to the people of George Ama and the entire Okrika Local Government Area for their impressive turn out for the PDP registration exercise in the area.
Hon. Tam-George who said he was grateful to God for the level of peace he has restored in Okrika enjoined the people to remain appreciative to God and the present administration in the state.
In his remarks, a PDP Chieftain and former General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation Elder Amabipi Martins also expressed his joy for the transparent and orderly manner political programmes are carried out in Okrika in an atmosphere devoid of any bitterness and acrimony.
Elder Martins who noted that no meaningful development can thrive in any society where there is no peace and unity of purpose, appealed to the people of Okrika to continue to see valuable hope in the PDP and administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
