Edo Govt Launches Citizens Identity Card
Edo State has emerged as the first state in the federation to launch her Citizens Identification Card.
Governor of the State, Adams Aliyu Oshimhole who disclosed this at the first Edo State Technology Day, with the theme: “Technology in Capacity Building and Governance” in Benin City, said the Identification Card Scheme is to ensure effective planning for the overall development of the state.
According to him, “we have embarked on the Edo Citizen Identification Card Project to help us generate a comprehensive databank of residents and citizens, in order to enhance our capacity to plan effectively”.
Governor Oshimhole disclosed that the project is designed to improve our capacity to plan for the welfare of the people and for the infrastructural and economic development of the state, maintaining that the old culture of throwing money at problems is neither desirable nor sustainable as much can be done for the people if their needs are determined correctly.
