Army Arrests Fake Officer In PH
A man who paraded himself as an army official was on Tuesday arrested in Port Harcourt by operatives of the Nigerian Army. The suspect who has been duping unsuspecting members of the public has since been detained at the Port Harcourt Brigade headquarters for further investigation.
The fake army officer, identified as Adesola Bucknor who claimed to be a major was arrested at the Waterlines area in Port Harcourt where he attempted to collect money from someone who was due to enlist into the Army as a Cadet Officer.
Parading the fake Army Major before newsmen, the Army Public Relations Officer, Major A. Illiyasu said he was arrested through a tip-off stressing that he would be handed over to the police after investigation.
Major Illiyasu called on members of the public to demand the true identity of anyone who claimed to be an Army officer and verify such from the Army authorities before dealing with such person.
When interrogated, the 37 year fake Army Major Adesola Bucknor who lived in Woji area of the Port Harcourt metropolis confessed to the crime saying that he was lured into the business of duping churches and individuals as his means of livelihood.
Items recovered from him are fake Military Identity Card, fake short service Cadet Course Form, Admission letter from Nigerian Defence Academy, Nigerian Army Pilgrims Board Chaplain Corps Form, and administrative documents of 82 Division Nigerian Army Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.
