Senator Sekibo Mourns Late Ajuru
The Senator representing Rivers-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, has described the demise of Late Chief Ignatus Ajuru as a great loss to the people of Nigeria, Rivers State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and the people of Isiokpo in Ikwerre local government area, describing it as very shocking.
Senator Sekibo, who made the assertion while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, said the killing was barbaric, as his wealth of knowledge and fatherly care have been wasted for nothing.
According to him, late Chief Ajuru, who was a very humble person despite his status in the society, was a gift to the people stressing that , “we have lost a gem, and the perpetrators who have done their wish would not go unpunished.”
The lawmaker noted that the late former Ambassador to Ukraine was the chairman of the occasion during his Senatorial District stakeholders meeting in April last year in Port Harcourt, saying, “I felt sad and shocked when I heard the news of his death, as he was one of those key players of the PDP government in the state.
He prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Senator, however, called on the Federal and Abia State government to redouble efforts towards finding late Ignatius Ajuru’s killers who operated between Rivers and Abia States boundary, while the killers are yet to be brought to book.
It would be recalled that a prominent chief of Ogu in Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers State, Chief Omiebi Davids Perebo, was also killed at the same area in November last year.
Late Chief Ajuru was buried over the weekend in his home town, Isiokpo in Ikwerre local government area.
