AC Urges Prayers For Ailing President
The Rivers State Chapter of the Action Congress Party has called on Nigerians to pray for the speedy recovery of President Musa Yar’Adua.
The party in a statement yesterday in Port Harcourt enjoined all Nigerians to put aside political differences and rally round the first family at this time of vulnerability. The statement which was signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Rivers State, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze also quoted the party leader, Prince Tonye Princewill to have directed all members of AC Rivers State to embark on seven days fasting to supplicate for the full recovery of Mr. President.
Princewill who is in Turkey as head of Rivers Economic delegation to meet with prospective investors also urged women groups of the party to consider the health of Mr. President as the major issue of their prayer session.
According to him, “I feel concerned for the president’s health condition as it is becoming embarrassing, not minding my misgiving about the slow pace of the PDP controlled government in addressing the myriad of problems confronting our country under his watch.”
In another development, the party has condemned the recent assassination of Hon. Charles Achor Nseigbe, a former lawmaker who was killed by unknown gunmen in police uniform in Port Harcourt.
He said, “As we commiserate with the government and people of Rivers State and the bereaved family over the death of Hon. Nsiegbe, we wish to appeal to all those involved in it to desist from such ungodly act of wanton murder of fellow human beings.
The statement further expressed its displeasure over the resurgence of kidnapping in the city of Port Harcourt and decried in absolute terms the abduction of two school children last Thursday in Port Harcourt.
The Party leader, however congratulated his deputy and senior Special Adviser to Amaechi, Chief Willians Igwe on his recent appointment as a member of Board of Trustees (BOT) by the AC.
The appointment of Chief Igwe brings to two Rivers State AC Chieftians so honoured in recent times.
Tonye Princewill was first to be honoured three weeks ago by the National Leadership of the party.
