JTF Plans Raid On Andoni Hoodlums
The Joint Security Taskforce (JTF) in Rivers State has said that with the successful implementation of the amnesty programme by the federal government, the era of militancy in the Niger Delta is over.
Therefore anyone caught carrying arms in any part of the region would be regarded as a criminal and treated as such.
The commander of the JTF in Andoni Local Government Area, Lt. Ogunrinde gave this warning in Oyorokoto community when he visited the area in company of the acting chairman of the local government council, Lady Emilia Gilbert Nte. Lt Ogunrinde who was reacting to the incessant raid of the community by suspected armed robbers warned those involved to desist in their own interest as any one caught will not be spared.
Meanwhile, the Andoni local government council has promised a regular patrol of the area by military gunboats.
The acting chairman of the council, Lady Emilia Gilbert Nte said this while addressing the people of Oyorokoto.
Lady Nte who regretted the incident said that the council would nolonger fold its hands and watch miscreants disrupt the peace of Andoni.
She however urged the people to cooperate with the security agencies by giving useful information that could lead to the tracking down of the culprits.
Earlier, the Joint CDC chairman of Oyorokoto community, Hon Michael Ebirieny Agana said that since April this year, the community had been under siege by robbers.
According to him, the people now spend nights in the mangrove for fear of being attacked by the robbers.
