UPTH Receives N4.5m Equipment
As part of efforts to improve health services, the management of Mobil Producing Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have donated hospital equipment worth N4.5 million to enhance the carrying out of surgeries in the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH).
The equipment, are QBC Autoread Plus Analyser, Electrolyte Analyser, N105 Volumetric Infusion Pump, PL 2000 Blood Gas Analyser and BGA 100 Blood Gas Analyser.
According to the Executive Directive of Mobil Producing Nigeria, Gloria Essien Danner, these equipment could not have come at a better time.
“These equipment will go a long way in assisting the hospital in carrying out basic operations,” she said.
She continued that these operations include, ability to deliver precise quantity of injection into new born babies, determine level of oxygen, carbon dioxide in patients and give accurate reading of red/white blood cells, among others.
Essien-Dammer who was represented by Mr Kaninyene Esiere said paediatirics and mother’s ward worth N9.7 million was handed over to the management of UPTH recently.
She further stated that health, education and economic empowerment are of Mobil Producing Nigeria support to communities because they constitute the tripod for human capital development.
She urged the management of UPTH to maintain the equipment in order to enable patients derive maximum benefit.
While receiving the equipment, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UPTH, Dr Urial Etawo expressed appreciation over the equipment handed over to UPTH.
The CMD who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr Aaron Odule commended the management of Mobil and stated that “Mobil is the first corporate body to key into the activities of UPTH by donating equipment worth millions of naira and urged other corporate bodies to borrow a leaf from Mobil.
The CMAC further stated that the equipment will be preserved for the purpose it was meant adding that “with these equipment Nigerians may not deem it necessary to travel abroad to seek for medical attention.
