AC Condemns Bayelsa Assembly For Approving N50 Billion Bond
The Action Congress (AC) Bayelsa State Chapter has reacted angrily to Tuesday’s endorsement by the State House of Asembly to the effect that Governor Sylva should borrow N50 bilion from the capital market. In a press statement distributed to reporters, the party through its Secretary, Mr Miniki Ebilabina described the action of the lawmakers as “very unfortunate, untidy, a show of shame and a deliberate act signifying that they are stooges of executive”. According to the statement, the lawmakers have failed to show signs of patience for not asking for the detail account of the state as done by the technical committee led by Afei Beredugo set up for the purpose by the state governor if taking their stand.. “The lawmakers would have been in the position to debates effectively on the merit and demerit of the bond, if they had armed themselves with the statement of account of the state government.” For failing to do this, the AC said the lawmakers have disappointed the different constituencies in which they represented. Also reacting, concerned Bayelsa Peoples Congress represented by Comrade Paul Idowarima, said instead of the Assembly men allowing the governor to stampede them into the passage of the bill allowing the procurement of the bond they should have got the Commissioner of Information to furnish the people with the general financial and the project that attached to it.
