300 Get Free Medical Tests In Ogun
More than 300 people yesterday benefitted from free medical service in Ijaye area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The medical outreach was sponsored by Mr Toyin Amuzu, a community leader in the area.
Speaking to newsmen, Amuzu noted that it was important to embark on regular medical checkup in order to enjoy a healthy living as well as live long.
According to him, no fewer than 300 people will benefit from the tests which include blood sugar level, blood pressure and other ailments.
He encouraged citizens to ensure regular medical check up to confirm their health status in order to reduce the incidence of sudden death in the country.
The community leader stated that some of the beneficiaries were given needed medications while those with major complications were referred to the hospital.
“The level of death arising from failure to conduct medical checkup has risen due to lack of finances.
“ The normal thing is to regularly go for medical checkup, but these days, many are struggling to get food to eat and do not have money to take proper care of their health, and now it has become necessary to be our brother’s keeper,” he said.
Amuzu promised to continue the medical service with other intervention programmes within his capacity to alleviate the sufferings of the people and make life meaningful for many.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their joy at the health intervention programme which, they said, came at a time when things were so hard for the poor.
They thanked the sponsor for his magnanimity, praying that God would continue to bless him.
