Police Arrest 24-Year-Old Cop Killer In Yenagoa
The Nigeria Police Force, Bayelsa State Command says it has arrested the killer of a Police Constable Sammy Saturday, attached to the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) at Tombia Roundabout in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, while parading suspected armed robbers and cultists said the alleged cop killer was arrested through its recent partnership with vigilante groups and other stakeholders in the State.
According to him, the suspect, Funkeye Timbofa, 24 years, when arrested led the police to other members of his robbery gang, Evans Kuro, Taye Paul and Diepriye Ogbolafor who admitted to killing the deceased policeman.
Addressing newsmen, he said: “Upon my assumption of office and after an in-depth analysis of the crime pattern, I noticed that the most prevalent crimes in the state are cultism, armed robbery and rape. Worried by this, I embarked on community engagement with critical stakeholders.
“Following this critical engagement, on November 16, 2018 about 5am, the command clearance squad arrested one Funkeye Timbofa in connection with armed robbery and murder of CPl Sammy Saturday of counter-terrorism unit on the 14-10-2018 at Tombia Roundabout”.
