The projects which include, civic centres and boreholes to be executed in Nkoro and Eeken in Opobo/Nkoro and Khana Local Government Areas, respectively are under the State Employment and Expenditure For Results (SEEFOR) projects.
The Project Director, Community Driven Development Social Project Implementation Unit (CDDS-PIU) of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Sir ThankGod Amaewhule said that the projects were part of the commitment of the state government and the World Bank to uplift the condition of people in rural communities.
Sir Amaewhule, who represented both the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Barrister Silvanus Nwankwo and his Budget and Economic Planning counterpart, Hon. Isaac Kamalu, said that World Bank projects are meant for poorest of the poor communities.
He also expressed the hope that the projects would uplift the conditions of the two communities.
“It is believed that the micro projects we are launching today will definitely alleviate the sufferings of the rural dwellers in these remotest and poorest communities in the state when completed”, he said.
Also speaking, the State Co-ordinator of SEEFOR, Mr Kelcious Amos, urged the communities to count themselves lucky to have benefitted from the projects.
Amos who was represented by Mrs Christiancia Nkiru Igbe, also urged them to ensure that the projects were executed to specification.
