Police Investigate Murder Of UNN Security Officer
The Enugu State Police Command yesterday, commenced investigation into the alleged gruesome murder of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) security officer.
The command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu told our correspondent in Enugu that the command would leave no stone unturned in its investigation.
The Chief Security Officer of UNN, Mr Romanus Nwafor, last Monday, confirmed the killing of a security officer in the university, Mr Chinedu Oranye, by unknown gunmen within the campus.
Oranye, working with the university’s security department, was killed around 10 p.m. last Saturday.
Amaraizu said that the command had sent a special homicide squad to unravel the mysteries behind the murder.
“All hands are on deck; the command will get to the root of the matter through a diligent investigation, which has already started as I speak.
“Those behind the gruesome murder of Oranya must be brought to book and must be prosecuted accordingly,’’ he assured.
Amaraizu, however, advised staff and students of the university to go about their lawful businesses without fear of intimidation.
“The command is assuring everyone in the institution adequate security as we have put in place measures to beef-up security within and outside the institution,’’ he said.
