Sekibo Commends Jonathan For Developing Okrika
The Senator repre
senting Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo says the on-going bridges and other developmental projects in Okrika are clear testimony of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s love for the people of the area.
Senator Sekibo made this assertion while speaking at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally at Okrika, in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers recently.
He said the President is desirous to embark on more developmental projects for Okrika people and other parts of the state, and urged the people of the area to reciprocate the gesture by voting for the President for a second term.
The lawmaker assured that with the emergence of Chief Nyesom Wike as the Governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, the party would take back the mandate given to it in 2011.
He described the first Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan as active “mama” and thanked her for all her support and care, stressing that a good mother begets a good son.
In her speech, dame Jonathan thanked members of the PDP in the state for the choice of a woman, Dr. (Mrs Ipalibo Banigo as their deputy governorship candidate pointing out that with the large turn-out of people, she was convinced that all votes from Okrika, Ogu/Bolo and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas are for PDP.
Dame Jonathan said the PDP believes in progress, development and continuity adding that the present administration led by her husband had embarked on sand filling of Okrika while another bridge from Abuloma to Kalio had been approved.
She also disclosed that the mangrove at ATC Okrika would soon be turned into new city, adding that the PDP governorship candidate had assured he would not demolish the waterfronts in Port Harcourt, when elected the governor.

APC Unveils New NWC At National Convention
Delegates at the convention, held at the Eagle Square, also produced a new national working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement endorsed by stakeholders.
Dr Ben Nwoye was named deputy national chairman (south), replacing Mr Emma Eneukwu, following consultations within the party.
Sources within the party said the decision was influenced by zoning considerations and consultations among party leaders, with Mr Peter Mbah, Enugu State governor, playing a significant role in ensuring Dr Nwoye’s inclusion.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yilwatda said his re-election was a call to greater service and pledged commitment to unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He added that the new leadership would not “fail or falter” in carrying out its responsibilities.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the national assembly, and other party leaders graced the convention.
