CDCs Told To Be People-Oriented
Community Develop
ment Committees (CDCs) in Nigeria have been challenged to be more proactive, aggressive and people-oriented in their relationship with governments and other stakeholders in order to attract development programmes and projects to achieve their objectives.
The traditional ruler of Usomini Kingdom in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Eze (Dr) Allen N. Osoh, gave the charge recently when he inaugurated a 21-member Usomini Central CDC in his palace at Obrikom.
Eze Osoh tasked the committee members to explore and identify projects and programmes that would improve the quality of life in the community and bring development to Usomini Kingdom.
The Usomini ruler charged the new CDC members to uphold transparency, honesty and accountability in their dealings with members of the community, government and other stakeholders in order to succeed.
The Eze Ali Usomini II who is a Second Class traditional ruler in the state harped on the tourism and investment potentials in the area and urged the committee members to consult at all levels within the local administration to attract investments into the area.
In his speech, chairman of the committee Mr Gift Nweke thanked the traditional ruler and the Usomini Kingdom for giving them the mandate to serve them.
He assured the members of the committee would be guided by honesty, transparency and patriotism to achieve their mandate and appealed for the support and cooperation of the people.
Among those inaugurated were Mr. Paulinus Ewo – Vice chairman, Brother Peter C. Augustine, Assistant Secretary; Chineke Ehucke – Treasurer; Miss Colar Peace Chinyere – Financial Secretary and Mr. Azubuike Osi – Public Relations Officer.
