Minister Moves To Improve Staff Welfare
The Minister of En
vironment, Mrs Laurentia Mallam, has inaugurated a new 32-seater bus to enhance the welfare of the staff, a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ben Goong, in Abuja, said.
The statement made available to The Tide quoted Mallam as saying that the measure was taken to ameliorate the transportation challenges, with an assurance that more buses would be provided in the coming months.
It reiterated her commitment that the ministry would ensure adequate training for all cadres of staff.
According to the statement, the Permanent Secretary, Mr Taiye Haruna, had informed the minister that areas of difference between the management and staff were gradually been resolved.
Haruna promised that 2014 would witness a conducive working environment for the staff.
Responding, the Chairman of the staff union, Mr Patrick Kemakolam, who received the bus on behalf of the staff, expressed appreciation to the minister for, stepping up the welfare of the staff.
Kemakolam said that the era of staff bickering and frustrations were over and assured the minister of increased productivity and support to ensure that she records a successful tenure.
He expressed optimism that the minister would accelerate the implementation of issues agreed upon with management in order to realise increased productivity, raise staff morale and ensure industrial harmony.
