NSC Appeals For Prompt Release Of Subvention
An official of the National Sports Commission (NSC)
Tayo Oreweme has urged the Federal Government to release subventions promptly to enhance the steady implementation of primary projects.
Oreweme, NSC’s Liaison Officer for Lagos, told newsmen that her office had only received subvention once this year, and that was in March.
She said the last time it received the funds was in June 2011.
“The Federal Government should improve on the area of releasing subvention to states because we have projects which require financial backing, the delay is keeping us stagnant”, the NSC official said.
Oreweme said the grass at the stadium had been cleared for flowers to be planted, but that could not be done because of the delay in the release of the funds.
“The grasses have grown back with the commencement of the rainy season, all because of the subvention delay, we would have planted the flowers and beautified the place “.
