Rivers Elders Hail Amaechi Over Songhai Farm
Prominent elder statesmen in Rivers State have described the Songhai farm established by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in Bunu Tai of Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State, as a concrete effort towards realising a stable economy for the state. The elders stated this shortly after an inspection tour of the farm recently.
Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, former Deputy Governor of the State, Sir Gabriel Toby said the farm would go a long way towards eradicating poverty among the youths.
According to him “The farm which is bigger than what is tenable in Benin Republic is a worthy investment that would create employment, food and security.” It is a good foresight and we urge the governor to maintain the tempo in his effort to further restore the dignity of the Rivers man”, he declared.
In his view, Dr Dominic Anucha who was also a former deputy Governor in old Rivers State, described the farm as a gigantic industry which would yield positive results. He said, “the farm will attract a lot of industries. In no distant time the people will begin to feel the impact of the farm”.
Anucha also described Governor Amaechi as a performer considering his laudable achievements particularly in education. He said, the model secondary school at Ebubu Eleme was a clear manifestation that governor Amaechi meant well for Rivers people.
“We saw a beautiful model secondary school, we hear that a good percentage of teachers will come from India so that our children will meet international standard. We have never seen a secondary school as big as a university even in our own time. So, for the governor to have this vision to do what he is doing in the state, is commendable”, he explained.
