RSSDA Canvasses LGs Support For Infrastructural Dev
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSSDA) has solicited the support of local government councils in the state towards the realisation of Governor Amaechi’s vision of making Rivers State the foremost in infrastructural and human development.
The Executive Director of the Agency, Mr. Noble Pepple, who said this at the Excellent in Local Government Initiative (ELGI) End of Tenure Award Prize Presentation to the Gokana local government council at Kpor said that Local Government Councils cannot be left behind in the transformative process in the state.
He listed the key areas of the process to include, Education, Agriculture and Manpower Development noting that it was the vision of the governor that the process should start from the rural areas.
Mr. Pepple commended the former Chairman of the Council , Hon. Victor Tombari Giadom for his efforts in ensuring that Gokana emerged the overall best in both the ELGI Assessment Award and the End of Tenure Award respectively.
The former Cairman of the Local Government Area and now Commissioner for Works, Hon. Victor Giadom represented by the Council Chairman, Hon. Demue Demua, thanked the agency for the honour pointing out that the Assessment has created opportunity for him to showcase his leadership qualities.
Items presented are, wheel barrels exercise books, science books, cartons of GLO Handsets amongst others.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
