RSG Begins Reconstruction Of 175 Primary Schools
The Rivers State Government, has commenced the reconstruction of 175 primary schools, across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike stated this during the official flag-off of the scheme held at the State School I, Rebisi in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state, last Thursday.
Governor Wike disclosed that the reconstruction of the 175 primary schools across the 23 local government areas of the state was under the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Federal Government Universal Basic Education (UBEC) intervention fund.
He urged the relevant authorities in charge of the primary schools in the state to visit the 23 local government areas with a view to identifying the schools that are in dilapidated conditions.
According to him, the state government would rehabilitate and even rebuild schools where necessary, adding that his administration was committed to building the future of the youths in the state. The state chief executive used the opportunity to order mechanics and spare parts dealers, as well as illegal occupants occupying the school premises to vacate the area, without further delay.
Governor Wike further directed the Rivers State Universal Basic Board (RSUBEB), to consult an architect to design the models within two weeks as well as furnish his office on the cost of the entire projects.
