Phone Subscribers Call For Improved Services
Mobile phone subscrib
ers in Ebonyi have said the teledensity in the country had made it imperative for the service providers to overhaul their systems.
The subscribers said in separate interviews with The Tide source in Abakaliki, recently, that there was need for the providers to upgrade their facilities for efficient service delivery.
According to them, the poor services and subscribers challenging experiences in telephony calls for urgent action.
A trader, Mr John Onwe, said the poor services were daily becoming frustrating.
“Some of the network providers need to go back to the drawing board to actually find out what is going wrong in their system.
“It’s not funny, especially in recent weeks where you have more drop-calls than successful ones.
“At times when you make calls, the network either hangs or the receiver is not hearing your voice while your account is debited.
“The situation is so frustrating and demands urgent action,’’ Onwe said.
A civil servant, Mary Ezeali, said that Nigerians were demanding answers for the poor services rendered in recent times by the various network providers.
“You buy an airtime and before you know it, it’s all gone where you are trying to make a call.
“The development casts doubts on the preparedness of these service providers to give Nigerians quality global mobile communication,’’ she said.
A lawyer, Jerome Obia, also urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to rise up to the challenges encountered daily by the subscribers.
“NCC as a regulatory body should come to the aid of the subscribers. Indeed, we are helpless and we continue to lose money every minute on services not rendered or enjoyed.
“We call on NCC and the various network providers to synergise to address the problem and improve service delivery,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the accredited representatives of the service providers in Abakaliki declined comments, saying they were not authorised to speak to the press.
