LASG Assures On Inter-Model Transport System
The Managing Director, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) Mr Adeyinka Marinho says the state government will soon begin inter-model transport system to ease traffic.
Marinho told newsmen in Lagos that the state government would connect water, rail and road modes to ease the transportation problems.
“The inter-model system of transportation in the state will make it easy for the commuters to get home earlier,” he said.
Marinho said that the system would enable residents to have alternative means of transportation without relying only on the road transport which usually causes traffic gridlock.
He explained that government had made it a priority to upgrade the 52 jetties in the state by dredging the waterways.
He said that Ikorodu and Badore jetties had been completed with bus terminus that would convey commuters to various bus stops, while those of LASU-Ebute Ojo, Ijegun Egba and Oworonshoki were under construction.
According to him, the state government will make the waterways smooth-sailing for commuters by lighting the waterways for night travellers.
Marinho said that there would be a channel that would demarcate track for easy movement of boat and cargo.
