FG Assures On Power Stability By Oct
The federal government
has assured Nigerians that power will be stable in Nigeria by October Next year, being next month.
The Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo made the promise Friday at a meeting on Power at the State House, Abuja.
Nebo said that issues in the electricity value Chain are being addressed in the country and noted that power supply has significantly improved in the country in the past one month and attributed this development to improved gas supply.
The minister who stated that federal government is making arrangements to ensure that the bills of electricity generating companies are promptly paid.
“Gas is now beginning to come back and it’s something that gives all of us a lot of joy.
And we know that it will continue to grow that way even until December because now some of the facilities, maintenance, repair works on the gas equipment and so one,” Nebo said.
The minister explained further that at present, “the gas producers have come to a place where almost all of these is being taken care of, and then the new gas we are expecting, we have then trickling in right now.”
According to him, “for the first time we rejoice that for the first time in a long time we have been averaging over 4,500 MW, when we include nearly 300MW of spilling reserve which is always put there to make sure that the reliability and stability of the grid is ensured at all time,” remarking that by the beginning of October there would be better stabilization of the entire power delivery system in the country.
“It may not be as rapid as Nigerians expect but it is important to let everybody know that indeed we are making progress, and we will continue to make progress,’ he said.
He further disclosed that arrangements were on, to ensure that all the generation companies get their money as at when due.
It would be recalled that generation companies GENCOs have severally remarked that governor remain one of their worst debtors as most government agencies owe the GENCOs huge debt.

Kenyan Runners Dominate Berlin Marathons
Kenya made it a clean sweep at the Berlin Marathon with Sabastian Sawe winning the men’s race and Rosemary Wanjiru triumphing in the women’s.
Sawe finished in two hours, two minutes and 16 seconds to make it three wins in his first three marathons.
The 30-year-old, who was victorious at this year’s London Marathon, set a sizzling pace as he left the field behind and ran much of the race surrounded only by his pacesetters.
Japan’s Akasaki Akira came second after a powerful latter half of the race, finishing almost four minutes behind Sawe, while Ethiopia’s Chimdessa Debele followed in third.
“I did my best and I am happy for this performance,” said Sawe.
“I am so happy for this year. I felt well but you cannot change the weather. Next year will be better.”
Sawe had Kelvin Kiptum’s 2023 world record of 2:00:35 in his sights when he reached halfway in 1:00:12, but faded towards the end.
In the women’s race, Wanjiru sped away from the lead pack after 25 kilometers before finishing in 2:21:05.
Ethiopia’s Dera Dida followed three seconds behind Wanjiru, with Azmera Gebru, also of Ethiopia, coming third in 2:21:29.
Wanjiru’s time was 12 minutes slower than compatriot Ruth Chepng’etich’s world record of 2:09:56, which she set in Chicago in 2024.
