Commissioner Tasks Pension Commission Staff On Performance
The Lagos State Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs Florence Oguntuase, has urged the staff of the State Pensions Commission to be more dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
The commissioner said this on Saturday during a visit to the Lagos State Pension Commission.
She said the call became necessary to prepare the workers on how to tackle issues, especially when dealing with retirees.
Oguntuase said: “when this is done, there will be no need for pensioners to come for verification in the future.
“The government is working assiduously to ensure that verification will be done online to avoid stressing them in their old age.’’
The release also quoted the Director-General of the Commission, Mr Kunle Hussain, as informing the commissioner that it was the responsibility of the commission to determine the number of those who would retire yearly and to plan ahead.
“The State Government has put in place a Group Life Policy for all employees for 320 per cent of the annual total emolument in the event of death while in service.’’
Hussain said the commission had issued five certificate bonds since its inception in 2010, adding that the number of beneficiaries till date stood at 1,714.
