RSG Places Premium On Education -Commissioner
The Rivers State Government says it places great premium and has spent huge resources to provide access and quality education to the children and resident of the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Prof Kaniye Ebeku who revealed this in a press statement said the state government has spent over one billion Naira to sponsor candidates in public examinations, including WAEC, NABTEB, JAMB, and NECO.
Ebeku, who was reacting to alleged rumours that the state government is not bothered about the education sector boasted that no state in the country has invested in education like Rivers State.
According to him, “ the Government of Rivers State under His Excellency, Chief Nyesom Wike, is spending huge resources to provide access and quality education to the children and residents of the State.
The Commissioner noted that efforts put in by the present administration on education are visible for everyone to see in terms of provision of infrastructure and sponsorship of public examinations.
“The Rivers State Ministry of Education would like to disabuse the minds of the general public about news making the rounds regarding the education sector in the State, suggesting and/or asserting that the state government is not bothered about the education sector. There is nothing farther from the truth than this”.
“ It is important to state emphatically that the Rivers State Government places great premium on education and goes to great lengths to ensure all is well in the sector. Even Federal Government’s examination agencies such as NECO and JAMB are provided free office accommodation and operational vehicles”, he said.
