Oborevwori Hails Muslims, Urges Prayers For Nigeria’s Progress
As Muslims across the world celebrate 2024 Eid-el-Maulud, marking the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged them to use the occasion to pray for the peace and prosperity of the state and Nigeria at large.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor stated that the country was in dire strait that required the sincere prayers of all citizens to overcome the economic and security challenges currently bedeviling it.
The Governor, therefore, urged Muslims in the state and other parts of the country to emulate the exemplary leadership of the Holy Prophet by promoting peaceful existence any where they live.
Oborevwori said, “on behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I extend our warmest wishes to Muslims celebrating Eid-el-Maulud in Delta, Nigeria and around the world.
“My hope and prayer is that, as we celebrate, we will internalise the spiritual lessons inherent in the teachings of the Holy Prophet regarding piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful coexistence, tolerance, honesty, and duty-drivenness.
“If these teachings are well applied, they will serve our beloved country and bring it greater glory.
“Let us remember to pray sincerely for our country to attain greater harmony and advancement among our fellow citizens, regardless of their origin or religion, and to foster a stronger dedication to the peace, unity, and stability of the country.
“I sincerely hope that this celebration will cheer up every home in Delta, Nigeria, as well as all over the world”.
