APC Suspends Senator Ibrahim Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
The Senator representing Ondo South in the National Assembly, Jimoh Ibrahim, has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) over alleged “insubordination and anti-party activities.”
This is contained in a letter signed by 16 members of the party executive from his Igbotako ward II, in Okitipupa Local Government Area, on Wednesday.
“We have found Senator Jimoh Ibraham’s actions and activities to be in violation of the party’s constitution, particularly his decision to sue the party as well as his and the party’s activities.
“As such, we have resolved to take appropriate disciplinary action against him as outlined in the party’s constitution. Senator Jimoh Folorunso Ibrahim is hereby suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect for acts of insubordination and anti-party activities in accordance with Article 21, Section A of APC Constitution,” the letter explained.
The senator was among the 14 other APC governorship aspirants who jostled for the ruling party’s ticket with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the April 20 primary election.
However, Governor Aiyedatiwa won the APC primary and emerged as the governing party’s governorship candidate for the November 16 election.
After the primary was held in the 18 local government areas of the state, Senator Ibrahim described the exercise as a “mega fraud” and said no election was held.
The senator immediately went to court to challenge the election process, demanding that it be cancelled and be conducted fresh.
However, the party’s Ward executive members have further alleged that Senator Ibrahim had advised his supporters in Igbotako to leave the APC and join the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The letter added, “Additionally he has engaged in anti-party activities by urging his supporters in Igbotako and Ondo State to join NNPP, claiming he will soon receive the gubernatorial ticket from them. Senator Ibrahim has openly declared his intent to disrupt APC before leaving the party, as evidenced by his actions in the Federal High Court in Abuja and his derogatory remarks about APC in various media outlets.
“For emphasis, Senator Jimoh Folorunsho Ibrahim has been suspended from the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect, and he is hereby prohibited from participating in any APC activities nationwide.”
Though The Tide source could not reach Senator Ibrahim for comments before going to press, his spokesman, Banji Okuomo, said he was unaware of the suspension letter.
“I’m not aware of any suspension letter, and we have not been communicated, please,” Mr Okuomo said briefly.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
