Tribunal’s Verdict, Revalidation Of People’s Mandate To Fubara -Monarch
The Onye-Wen-Ali XIII of Egberu-Ndoki Kingdom, in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Boniface Ejikeme Akawor, has described the judgment of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal as a revalidation of the people’s mandate to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on March 18, 2023.
Speaking while reacting to the recent verdict of the Tribunal that affirmed the election of Governor Fubara, Eze Akawor said he never doubted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would be out of the unnecessary conspiracy by the petitioners unscathed because there was nothing to bother about.
He said it was only natural that Rivers people reciprocated the quality leadership and exceptional governance the State experienced for eight years under former Governor and present Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike.
Eze Akawor maintained that the massive votes for the PDP in all the polls were a pay back to the party and its governorship candidate, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
He used the opportunity to congratulate Governor Fubara on his victory at the court and promised his domain’s unwavering support and prayers for more breakthroughs in the years ahead.
He enjoined the opposition parties in the State to join hands with Governor Fubara to move the State to a more prosperous attainment, and shun the continuous discounting of the blessings of the State.
The paramount ruler of Egberu-Ndoki Kingdom also commended the tribunal judges and the dispassionate manner they handled the cases brought before the tribunal.
Meanwhile, Eze Akawor has appealed to Rivers people to give Governor Siminalayi Fubara more time to fix the state and provide dividends of democracy for them.
’’I really understood that Rivers people and Nigerians are going through trying times as a result of removal of fuel subsidies which has jerked up prices of goods and services.
“I plead that the Chief Executive Officer of the state should be given more time to work and fix the oil and gas rich state for the benefit of the people”, he said.
According to him, one hundred days in office is not enough to assess Governor Fubara’s achievements and its impact on the citizens.
Elaborating on the state of the nation currently, the monarch admonished Nigerians and Rivers leaders, stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious bodies, women and youth groups, among others, to rally round the governor to do the needful for the well-being of all and sundry in the state, adding that the will of God must prevail at all times.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
